The lock was built in 1766 and then moved to the present location in the 1780s, though why it was moved is a mystery. This circular walk begins in Ripley, follows a stretch of the Wey Navigation, passes the ruins of Newark Priory before heading up to St Nicholas Church in Pyrford.
